The story of Sorgh & Hoop
The inspiration began in the Sorgh & Hoop restaurants where the founder, Sandra van Houweligen served authentic Carribbean food during 15 years. This in a Caribbean decor, with stories of the history and orgins of the mixed population. In 1994 we start with a team of more than 10 cultures, from analphabetics to degreed, from dishwasher to management. There were expositions with musea about the inheritage en social projects in Surinam and Rotterdam.
After selling the restaurants the Sorgh & Hoop Caribbean product line for home cooking had been developed.The authentic Caribbean tastes have their orgin in India, Indonesia, Africa and the native inhabitans. Currently Sorgh & Hoop is taking a leading position in 642 Dutch Jumbo supermarkets with a wide range of Caribbean products like the curry pastes, rubs, salsa's and wraps.

Sandra believes it is nice to know more about the minorities we live with through their kitchen, that good family food makes us happy and healthy, that substainibility is also possible for exotic meals and that supporting social projects is important.
